LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse
Correctional Facility Healthcare | Contract (36 hr/week) 07/11/2026 - 10/10/2026 | $39.00 hr
Position Summary
Provides nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic/preventive procedures for inmate patients within a correctional healthcare setting. This role offers exposure to a wide variety of care settings, including clinic, in-patient, med pass, out-patient, wound care, cell-side care, ER, and critical care.
Qualifications Required
Education
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program
Experience — 1+ years in ALL of the following:
-Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)
-Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC)
Licenses/Certifications — ALL of the following required:
-Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) — active Texas license
-American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
-IV Therapy Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Overview
Schedule & Positions Available
-Full-Time 4-Day LVN positions
-4:3 rotating schedule: 06:45 – 19:15
Key Responsibilities
-Interpret physicians' orders and administer prescribed medication
-Assist physician with sick call when present; independently observe and assess signs/symptoms when physician is not present
-Apply surgical dressings and bandages
-Provide emergency first aid care
-Check and record vital signs
-Report reactions to treatments/medications and changes in patients' emotional or physical condition
-Instruct inmates on discharge planning and health care education
-May supervise and instruct correctional staff on inmate health care needs
-Consult with supervisor on complex or problem cases
-Check and order medical supplies
-Maintain accurate medical records
